Day 5a: Visiting a port city

The forest sector’s contribution to sustainability of the built environment in Alpine Europe

Destination: Koper, Slovenia


Our first destination today is The Port of Koper. As a port city, this area is very important in the life of Koper community. We had a presentation from the manager about the port.

The Port of Koper, or in Slovene is “Luka Koper”, is the only Slovenian port. It is situated in the northern part of the Adriatic Sea, connecting markets of Central and Southeast Europe with the Mediterranean Sea and Far East.

After presentation, we went back to the bus to have a port tour.

These are some pictures that I took from inside the bus.

They divide the area based on the products such as for timber and cars.


Second destination is Škocjanski zatok nature reserve. They have a cool wooden building which form a bird nest like.
