Today, I have joined Thesis in 3 in the College of Engineering – University of Canterbury, after I won in the school heat.
Thesis in 3 or Three Minute Thesis (3 MT), as is cited from http://www.uq.edu.au/grad-school/three-minute-thesis ,
is a research communication competition developed by The University of Queensland. The exercise develops academic, presentation, and research communication skills and supports the development of research students’ capacity to effectively explain their research in language appropriate to an intelligent but non-specialist audience. Research higher degree (PhD and MPhil) students have three minutes to present a compelling oration on their thesis topic and its significance. 3MT is not an exercise in trivialising or ‘dumbing-down’ research but forces students to consolidate their ideas and crystalise their research discoveries.
This is a good opportunity in a fun way to answer the classical question: “So..what do you do in your research?” 😀 Also, this is a good practice for presenting your research.
Definitely recommended to go! Nothing to lose…in fact, if you win, you can go to the next step of your life, win some cool prize and cash, and of course the fame will come to you 😀
